What is the Slope Writers Workshop?

Slope Writers Workshop is a Brooklyn-based workshop designed to nurture emergent and veteran writers, as well as those who need a gentle push (or a kick in the pants) to get back into practice. Slope writers is a generative fiction workshop (all work will be treated and discussed as fiction, even if true or autobiographical) that is designed to honor both the art and craft of writing.

To create captivating composition, the writer as artist must hunt for compelling content by sifting through memories as well as mining the present for sensory details. The writer as craftsperson must provide the architecture for the story, moving us through time, place, and character effortlessly in service of the story.

While many workshops focus on the art or the craft, Slope Writers will help you grow the container (framework) as well as the content (substance) of the work through multi-sensory prompts and constructive feedback using the Amherst Writers & Artists method.
